About the PZL M28 Skytruck
The M28 began as a licence-built Antonov An-28 and evolved into a distinctly Polish aircraft once PZL Mielec fitted Western engines and avionics. It keeps the An-28's defining feature: astonishing short-field performance from a very simple, rugged airframe.
Poland flies it in numbers, including the Bryza maritime patrol version used by the navy to watch the Baltic. The United States bought a batch for Air Force Special Operations Command as the C-145A Skytruck, used for training partner air forces.
Polish aircraft are the most consistent presence here, often on short Baltic sorties.
