About the A310 MRTT
Before the A330 MRTT there was the A310, and a handful of air forces still fly it. Germany converted several to tankers and Canada operates the CC-150 Polaris, which does government transport, strategic airlift and — in two converted airframes — air-to-air refuelling.
The Canadian aircraft are the ones most likely to appear here. They carry the prime minister and ministers abroad, move troops and freight, and their movements track Canadian diplomatic and operational activity.
Both fleets are being replaced. Germany has moved to the multinational A330 MRTT pool and Canada has ordered converted 330s, so this is a type in its final years.
